No eating after 6:30pm.

Yes, that might seem extreme. Do you want results?  Much of our weight gain is due to "social eating."  Eating at parties. Snacking with friends. Mindless eating while watching a movie. 
Many times the foods we are eating don't even taste that great. We are just eating it because every one else is.  Don't do it!!

This is slightly forgiving. If you don't finish dinner until about 7:00pm because you or your spouse or your family is not ready for dinner before then, by all means, wait til after you finish dinner.  The point is really to not eat after dinner.  Stop eating after dinner. No need to continue.

Sometimes it helps to brush your teeth.  After you finish eating dinner, go brush your teeth. The toothpaste taste left in your mouth will possibly help you curb the desire to cosume any more food.

If you are used to eating a "midnight snack" or "2nd dinner" around 9 or 10 or 11... you may get quite hungry around these times.  Drink water. If you feel the need to snack or eat, just drink water. You may go to bed quite hungry. That is good!!  Starving at night is a plus!  Just think: When you are hungry at night and you feel you "need" to eat, remember you are NOT going to, because you want to slim down, you want results, you want to get to a smaller size.  Being "hungry" at night will help you do it!
