Drink 8 oz of water 10 minutes before consuming anything.
Do you like water? Or do you hate it? I think we all learned in Kindergarten, the amount of water or fluids to drink a day is 8-8oz glasses. Approx. 64 ounces. It's a general guideline, some may need more, some may need less, but think about it. How many glasses of water have you consumed today? 2 or 3? Most of us are not getting nearly enough water.
Side note: Attempt to replace pop/soda/carbonation with water. (If you want results, this is a vital part of the step.) Think one step at a time. If you are drinking 4-6 sodas per day, start small and cut it down to 2 per day and then when 2 per day is mastered, go down to 1, and then 0.
For me, cutting carbonation was easy. For most, it is not that easy. I actually don't like carbonation very much. It "fizzles" in my nose and burns my throat. Not very comfortable, so water is an easy alternative for me, except I wasn't getting nearly enough water.
On a good day, I would probably drink 3 glasses a day, one with every meal. NOT ENOUGH.
So, STEP 1 is to drink 8 oz of water 10 minutes before eating anything. If 8 oz is too much to start with, try 4oz.
This will do two things. First, it will help you get the amount of water your body needs. Second, it will help stop you from snacking.
I'm heading to the pantry because I'm craving something sweet. Oh yeah, I have to drink 8oz of water first and then wait 10 minutes. So, I drink the water and now have to wait. More often than not, I forget about the craving.
