Only consume ONE serving.
Portion Control. One serving, one helping, one. Do you actually notice how many servings are in a bag of chips and how much fat content, sodium content, cholesterol content is in each serving. How much are you actually eating.
Or have you noticed or researched how much fat is actually in that Olive Garden Linguine Carbonara that is so fantastic. 1400 calories and 88 grams of fat. OUCH. That is just one meal. Have you also noticed the portion sizes of items you order at restaurants? The amount we are giving for our 1 meal could probably actually feed a family of 4!
Let's not obsess right now with reading labels. Let's start small. Focus on eating only one helping (serving) of the mouthwatering lasagna that was prepared for dinner. One serving is usually about the size of your fist. Granted, if you're not used to this, you are more than likely going to still be hungry after one serving. Remember to drink 8oz of water before your meal. Go ahead and drink water with or after your meal as well and that might help to "fill" you up.
Remember to go to bed hungry is good! If your "overweight" body is used to eating more than one helping at dinner and maybe even a midnight "snack", then you probably will be hungry after dinner. Don't give in to the hunger cravings. That will only defeat the purpose of trying to shrink your overweight stomach. Right now your stomach has probably been stretched to an unnatural size. In order to shrink it and fit into that smaller size jean (or whatever thing or size you are dreaming of getting into), you must be willing to be hungry at first in order to train your body and mind to eat less.
